Bequests
A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. To ensure that your exact intentions are followed, wills, trusts and codicils should be prepared by your personal legal advisor. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to family, friends, or MidAmerica Nazarene University as part of your estate plan. You will leave a lasting legacy, lessen the burden of taxes on your family, and may receive estate tax savings.
Charitable Gift Annuities
Charitable gift annuities have the dual benefit of providing you with secure fixed income for life while also supporting MNU’s mission. A charitable gift annuity is a contract between you and the university: you transfer cash or property to MNU and we sign an annuity contract, promising to pay fixed payments for life. A portion of each payment may even be tax-free, and you will receive a charitable income tax deduction for the gift portion of the annuity.
With intentional generosity, you can support MNU and our students while enjoying financial benefits for yourself. If you are over age 70 ½, you may give a gift to MNU from your IRA as a tax-free distribution. This means an amount (up to $100,000 annually) transferred from your IRA directly to the university can count toward your required minimum distribution without being considered taxable income for you.
Cornerstone Society
The Cornerstone Society recognizes those special individuals who have the needs of generations of MidAmerica students at heart. By informing the MNU Foundation of your intention to make a deferred gift, you allow the University to prepare for the future and express our gratitude today.
